    Sydney L. Howell    , joined Kastner | Banchero LLP at it’s inception in 2004. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Howell focused on executive employment matters as an associate with Newton, Kastner & Remmel and, before that, she worked within the Labor and Employment division of Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison.

    Practice Areas:
    Ms. Howell brings a broad range of employment law experience to Kastner | Banchero LLP. Her clients have included prominent high-technology companies, start-ups, executives and others. She has worked extensively on employment matters including recruitment and hiring, termination and discipline, claims of wrongful termination, the enforceability of covenants not to compete, talent negotiations in the merger and acquisition context, conducting proper workplace investigations, negotiating and drafting executive employment agreements, reductions-in-force, wage and hour laws, leaves of absences and protecting proprietary resources. Ms. Howell has prepared and presented seminars such on sexual harassment, managing within the law, and other employment topics. Her experience includes:
      • Representing start up companies in establishing Human Resources infrastructure, policies, training and legal compliance.
      • Representing CEO and other senior executives in analyzing, negotiating and drafting compensation packages, change-of-control (and other executive protection) provisions, retention programs, equity-based incentive plans and severance arrangements.
      • Representing individuals and business entities in protecting intellectual property rights.
      • Representing companies in addressing employee-relations issues, management training, post-merger and acquisition Human Resources integration, reductions-in-force, wage and hour laws, and leaves of absences.
    Prior to her legal career, Ms. Howell worked for non-profit and civil rights organizations dedicated to advancing human rights.
